2011 Serbian Open: Somdev beats a clay specialist
Today Somdev beat Mikhail Kukushkin (World rank 65) with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 to enter the second round of the Serbian Open in Belgrade. This is a sweet win for Somdev not just because Mikhail is ranked higher than him, but also because Mikhail is a clay court specialist. This victory is a sign that Somdev is evolving his game to suit the clay courts as well, and this will bode well for his ranking.
He will be facing against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (World rank 26) a solid clay court player. Somdev and Guillermo went head to head at the beginning of the month in the Houston Open in which Somdev lost with a score of 4-6, 1-6. This is the second time these two will go against each other in less than a month, and lets wait and see if the results will be any different this time around.
